011 Lifecycle Development Assignment Introduction
The boys’ family have been known to Ruskin Vale Children’s Services for over 12 years. Barry and Jacob come from a large family. Barry is nine and Jacob is six. Their parents are Elaine and Michael; their background is white English. They have four brothers and sisters whose ages range from 14 weeks to 13 years.
Barry and Jacob both have learning disabilities and have a special educational needs statement for emotional and behavioural difficulties. Jacob has diabetes.
There are long-standing concerns about the children’s care. Elaine and Michael are heavy drinkers. Michael is a heroin addict and Elaine has suffered with bouts of depression. There are multiple and complex needs within the Moore family. The family is characterised by the ‘trilogy of risk’, sometimes referred to as ‘toxic trio’.
