Aim: The aim of this unit is to show how communications, knowledge and information can be improved within an organisation including making better use of IT systems. Learners will understand the interaction between communications, knowledge and information. The unit also explores how IT systems can be used as a management tool for collecting, storing, disseminating and providing access to knowledge and information.

Managing Digital Information: Scenario
Many businesses are moving to digitalisation. It is important for any organisation to be able to manage digital data and information accurately and systematically.
You are providing advice to a client who has recently decided to move to digital platforms for her business.
Assignment Brief: You are guiding the Operations Manager to improve understanding of digital transformation. You have decided to give him structured guidance in a report format and provide examples from existing organisations.
Use an organisation you are familiar with to base your investigation on, write a report in which you:
• Assess various digital information held by organisations.
• Evaluate the information systems used for managing digital information
• Assess internal and external sources of digital information at the organisation.
• Describe existing information processes for a given department within an organisation.
