This unit provides postgraduate students with the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge in their academic domain and assists them to engage in their research. Through reading and discussions in small groups, students are exposed to seminal papers in their field and recent theories that influence their discipline. The unit is seminar-based and students are expected to actively contribute to discussions around readings and research ideas. Students submit a short written synthesis of the readings assigned for each session. Additionally, based on the readings and discussions, student write a 10-15 page expository essay on a chosen topic. Enrolment is limited to postgraduate students and is by special permission from the unit coordinator.
