The aim of this paper is to discuss overview of the migrant health care workers in Aged Residential Care facilities of New Zealand. It has been observed by Wong, & Breheny (2021), migrant & seasonal farmworkers have nationalities of different countries however, they reside within the concerned nation. The government of New Zealand provides subsidies for the national heath care system, which means that each immigrant or migrant worker present in the New Zealand will gain access to the citizenship benefits from low-cost health care or free health care service throughout the country. However, New Zealanders might also gain benefit as a migrant if they have a valid residence visa. The migrant workers can also enjoy the benefits if they hold a valid work visa for minimum of two years.
Another study published by Broad et al., (2020) showed that migrant workers are faced with major issues due to lack of effective communication approach and strategies. In addition to that, the workers might also witness drawbacks due to communication issues due to which the migrant health care workers are unable to understand or interact with each other. As a result, it can lead to workplace conflicts and create a negative impact on the organization in long run. Hence, it is recommended that the organization should conduct an employee training facility where they will be able to learn the local language in order to understand their customers or the local workers.
The objective of this paper is to gain an overview of the migrant health care sector with the help of PESTLE framework. In addition to that, Grant resource view models and vision & values of the firm is discussed to understand long term goals of this industry. Furthermore, an overview of the internal business environment will also be discussed with the help of SWOT framework. The overview of this sector is discussed with the help of stakeholder analysis, value chain analysis as well.
The government of New Zealand focussed on supporting the elders of this nation by providing them with appropriate health care and other facilities. In addition to that, the eligibility for gaining access to the Residential health care of New Zealand is determined with the help of Needs Assessment (MacDonell et al., 2021). Hence, it is assumed that the residential care for aged people or citizens in New Zealand is highly influenced by the District Health Board to a huge extent. The employees working in this organization is highly concerned about customer safety and well being hence, the workers are provided with effective training and development approaches.
Nature of aged health care industry in New Zealand is observed to be 49 percent for all New Zealand ARC facilities, which is operated as major group for health care facilities (nzaca.org.nz., 2020). On the other hand, dual service beds are considered as the largest beds category with 36% (nzaca.org.nz., 2020). Dedicated rest home beds are comprised of 24 percent for their supply whereas ORA beds of 9 percent (nzaca.org.nz., 2020).
Difference between big and large aged care facilities is that the big organization provide a greater number of dual service beds as compared to other organizations. Aged care sector is faced with regulations under ARC, which ensures quality service for the people. Jobs or workforce within the age care industry is rising due to increase in customer demand. Structure of this sector is broad as it encompasses all individuals above the age of 60 residing in New Zealand. Profile of the workforce in New Zealand’s aged care industry shows that average occupancy is more than 87.1 percent (nzaca.org.nz., 2020). However, during March of 2020, the sector witnessed a decrease of 0.7 percent in their occupancy rate (nzaca.org.nz., 2020).
