Aim
For this assessment, you are required to critically review literature pertaining to a topic of your choice. This includes describing and critiquing the methods utilised in the literature, evaluating the relevance and importance to your own study and providing recommendations of its use for the Human Performance Science practitioner or researcher.
Budget
In this section, include a budget of expected expenses/costs to complete the investigation. A typical budget might include estimated costs of:
Introduction
The research proposal introduction serves the same purpose as the introduction in a manuscript/laboratory report. That is, the introduction is used to build the argument for investigating the present topic. It should provide the `real world` view of the topic and where possible, some mechanisms relating to the topic. The following areas are typically covered in your introduction but don`t necessarily have a subheading:
Theory - the premises of your argument that come from the accepted theory. History - a mini review of the literature concerning previous research, projects, findings and events in this field of study.
The current situation - a description of the way the researcher`s proposed study relates to the prior theory and history. How this study is similar and how it is different. How the researcher intends to define things. How, in broad sweeping terms, they intend to study the problem.
Remember that this is the introduction to your topic and non an exhaustive review of the literature; this is provided later in the proposal.
The following area should also be covered in your introduction but should be identified under a subheading with the introduction: Operational definitions (if any)
Literature Review
Copy and paste your literature review which was submitted for assessment two. This section will not be marked as a mark will have already been assigned to this section.
Method
The same basic structure applies here as in the method section of a laboratory report, with the except that is written in future tense. This section should provide a clear description of how the data will be collected to allow the research question to be answered. The following areas should be addressed in the methods section under sub-headings:
