CASE STUDIES:

An important learning methodology is the extensive use of case studies. They enable learners to apply the concepts that they learn in their subjects. The learners have to study the case, analyse the facts presented and arrive at conclusions and recommendations. This assists in the assessment of the learners ability to apply to the real world the tools and techniques of analysis which they have learnt. The case study serves as a supplement to the theoretical knowledge imparted through the course work.

TASK 1 to TASK 4:You are required to follow the instructions as specified towards each task and support with a research by using supportive materials like books, websites, etc., and give a feedback on the findings by relating your arguments to the relevant case studies as specified towards each task:
You have been recently hired as an IT Manager of the organisation of your choice and an essential part of your new role is to help the company to improve its Information systems presence, increase efficiency, and promote growth, improve retention of staff and gain competitive advantage in its relationship with customers, suppliers, competitors and new entrants.

Task 1

The objective for this task is to address and exhibit an understanding the principles of staff management. You are required to address the tasks as specified and research a particular organization to address the learning outcomes as specified:

Task 2

The objective for this task is to address and exhibit an understanding the use software management tools in management planning.
You are required to address the task as specified and research considering the selected organization in your task1 to address the learning outcomes as specified:

Assume that the company is facing various issues such as lack of controlling the budgetary procedures, inconsistency in producing financial reports and lack of controlling projects where they use manual procedures for various management operations.
You have been asked to
P2.1- use system management tools to assist the company for their management planning process towards the problems which mentioned above.
P2.2- effectively use software management tools to improve the management planning process in task 2.1.

Task 3

The objective for this task is to address and exhibit an understanding the use of IT in strategic planning. You are required to address the task as specified and research considering the selected organization in your task1 to address the learning outcomes as specified: Please note that the research and subjective skill needs to exhibit transferable skill by reflecting it to the chosen organization in task 1. Answers reflected without reflective practice will be referred.
As an IT manager, the senior management team are requested to exhibit an understanding of the use of IT in strategic planning within the organisation you have selected in Task 1
P 3.1  critically evaluate the role of IT in strategic planning for the selected organisation in task 1
P3.2  use appropriate research methods to contribute to the selected companys strategic plan.You may choose a research method used by another company and justify how it contributes towards the strategic planning process of your chosen organisation.
P3.3 - discuss the issues associated with strategic planning in your selected organisation in task 1 (e.g., PEST analysis etc).

Task4:

The objective for this task is to address and exhibit an understanding the current developments in information technology. You are required to address the task as specified and research considering the selected organization in your task1 to address the learning outcomes as specified: Please note that te research and subjective skill needs to exhibit transferable skill by reflecting it to the chosen organization in task 1.
