Final Research Project
By now we have summarized, analyzed, synthesized, and written the first research paper. Now we are moving towards integrating larger amounts of research into our writing to support a claim. Andrea Elliott wrote Invisible Child: Poverty, Survival, and Hope in an American City to examine the experiences of Dasani and her family. Dasani and her family are used as a case study for examining the way a community’s social distinctions and perceptions can impact the day-to-day experiences of the residents. Although her work focused on one family, the ideas, concepts, and experiences can be applied to other states, cities, and communities that look like the one where Dasani and her family live. Throughout the text, Elliott refers to larger ideas, policies, and historical events as having an impact on people like Dasani and her family.
