Writing For this assignment, compile a works cited entry, write a summary, and write a review for four possible sources that you have found in your research for the prompt you have selected for Essay 2. Do NOT include your chosen source from The Norton Reader for this assignment.
ALL research sources must come from the RSU library databases or catalogue. Begin your annotated bibliography with a working thesis statement. Each source listed in your annotated bibliography must include the following information and meet the criteria described in these instructions and the rubric:
Format document according to MLA using Times New Roman font size 12
see EW Chapter 54, “The Basics of MLA Style,” section 54e, “Follow the MLA format;
also see EW Chapter 57, “A Student Research Essay, MLA Style”;
AND/OR MLA Format Template in Module One.
Documentation Requirements
Provide a works cited entry of the source ABOVE the summary of each source for works cited examples, see EW Chapter 56 “MLA Style for a List of Works Cited” most of your sources are likely to be articles found in a database provided by the RSU Library. For an example of a works cited entry, see EW Chapter 56, ex. 31. Include only ONE quotation from the source in each summary.
Do NOT include quotations in your reviews.
Be sure that your integration of the source material includes a clear attribution AND an in-text citation. Most of your sources arelikely to be electronic. See EW Chapter 55, ex. 2, for how to cite a digital source. Remember, even most electronic sources are provided in PDF format and will, therefore, include page numbers. You must cite the source page numbers when they are available.
See EW Chapter 48, “Quotation Marks,” section 48c, ” Use quotation marks for titles of short works,” and Chapter 52, “Italics,” section 52a, “Italicize title of long works” for how to format titles.
Summary Requirements
Capture the title of essay, the author’s name, and your interpretation of the thesis of the source in the topic sentence.
Provide signal phrases for your source throughout the summary (see EW Chapter 12, “Research, section 12b, “Integrate quotations, paraphrases, and summaries effectively.”). Example: In “Faux Friendship,” author William Deresiewicz argues, “The new group friendship…is cannibalizing our individual friendships as the boundaries between the two blur” (441).
Do NOT write more than a ten-sentence summary for each source.
