By reflecting upon and responding to Seneca’s “On Liberal Education” in Reading the World, write a research paper in which you explore the connection between education and freedom. Argue how you think education should/should not function in a free society and how colleges and universities should/should not prepare people to be good citizens. Be very specific in your discussion of each (as far as coursework and its connection to educating people for the good of all) and in your selection of data/information to support your argument.
1500-1600 words, or at least 5-6 complete pages with 4-5 credible sources
You may take any position on these topics, but you must clearly take a side and provide both textual and researched support for your position. Please include a rebuttal or counter argument/viewpoint in the paper. This way, the reader knows that you are aware of the opposing viewpoints. Then, get back to your own viewpoint.
Again: Remember that a good argument will consider all sides of an issue, but you ultimately will be trying to persuade your reader to agree with your position, so your position must be clear.
You MUST use textual support AND research to support your argument. Pay careful attention to choosing reputable, relevant sources and to using the proper format for citing all sources (including Internet sources) as you develop your argument. Refer to the MLA Section of REF and utilize the “easybib” website for assistance.
