Task description

The objective of the assignment is to test your understanding of project management (PM) theory/principles through analysis of a real case study (completed). You will critically analyse the success or failure of the applied (or failure to apply) PM principles, frameworks, processes, and/or practices and provide recommendations to what could be applied to improved project performance in undertaking similar types of projects.

Learning outcomes

The objective of this assignment is to simulate a post-project review and report on the performance of a project. This assessment will evaluate your general understanding of project management theory/principles.

By doing so, the assessment results in the following learning outcomes:

1. Discuss and demonstrate currency of knowledge of project management from initiation to completion.

2. Select and apply appropriate tools and techniques to resolve typical project management issues and challenges related to project planning, development, implementation and close out.

3. Critically discuss and interpret issues and develop options related to performance of projects including the strategic role of project manager.

4. Demonstrate written and oral communication skills to industry and academic standards both in a team and project environment taking into account socio-cultural considerations.

What you need to do

You are required to conduct a post-project review and write a report
(approximately 2,000-words) that analyses the performance of a completed project. The project needs to be recognizable and with sufficient information available within the public domain, to undertake this activity. Select one of the projects
from the following list for your review.

The post-project review must analyse the success or failure of the applied (or failure to apply) project management principles, knowledge areas, processes and/or practices, as relevant and as discussed in the course materials and through your research on best practices using different sources (e.g., books, journal articles, websites, news articles, reports).

Formatting Requirements and Other Details
The report format must comply with the following:
• Report written in a format that can be uploaded onto Turnitin as either a Word or PDF file.
• Length: approximately 2,000 words (excluding appendices, if any, and references); 10% above or below this word limitis acceptable.
o Report content exceeding the maximum word count will not count towards the assignment.
o Marks will also be deducted if your report is significantly below the word limit.
o Graphic figures, if any, inserted in the report will not count on word limit.
o Appendices should only include additional information that is supportive of critical information discussed in the body of the report, attach it via appendices.
o The use of tables, if required, should be limited to comparison and summation of data.
o Include the table of contents

o Line spacing - 1.5 times
o Margins - All 2.54 cm
