SWOT Analysis

1. Choose a patient population that is typically associated with a health care disparity that you currently see in your practice. Review Healthy People 2020 for examples. Provide a brief (one paragraph) introduction of the patient population you have chosen.

My population is the Hispanic population and Jackson memorial hospital’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats when it comes to treating the patient group.

I live in Miami, Florida, and the Hispanic community is majority, so the healthcare system does a good job at addressing issues that involve them, but disparities still exist and play a huge part in their care.

some strengths- most providers are bilingual, have programs that allow those without insurance to be covered or get medications needed, etc.

some weaknesses- many don’t have citizenship and cannot get certain access to care and medications, they are automatically judged or categorized by their skin color or accent, nonhispanic providers do not treat them equally, etc.
